Ortho Mattress Guide|Why is a Restful Night’s Sleep Important?

Well for starters, we spend about a third of our lives on our mattress! A mattress plays a very important (and often overlooked) role in the quality of your life, health and well-being. A good, comfortable mattress helps you and your family get a good night’s sleep, and the benefits of that are endless. Studies have shown that better sleep leads to improved energy levels, decreased risk of depression, greater levels of concentration, reduced stress levels and a healthier heart. Researchers have even drawn links between a good night’s sleep and improved weight loss.

A comfortable mattress helps relieve back and neck pain, leads to better overall circulation and gives better support to joints and muscles. A good mattress will give you the energy you need to live your life better!

Since buying a mattress is such an important decision we have created this site to help guide mattress shoppers to the best possible mattress choice for them.  Please read our mattress buying and sleep tips so that you can make the best possible mattress purchase.

Why An Ortho Mattress?

Othro MattressFounded in 1957, Ortho Mattress has been providing its customers with high-quality bedroom products at low prices. Based in La Miranda California, it is Southern California’s leading mattress retailer with over 50 locations in the greater Los Angeles area. Its presence also extends to select locations in Tennessee and Missouri.  Ortho Mattress is a top retailer for many of the leading national brands with a wide variety of brands such as Sealy Posturpedic , Serta, Simmons Beautyrest, Stearns & Foster and Visco.

What distinguishes Ortho Mattress from their competition is that they also have their own local factories producing several exclusive Ortho brands, providing them with a larger selection than other retailers. They are able to provide these mattresses at a factory-direct price because all Ortho mattresses are shipped directly from the factory, so there is no reseller nor additional transportation costs. This creates savings that are passed on to the consumer.

Having their own factory also provides an added level of flexibility, as mattresses can be custom-made to suit your very specific needs. Given their wide selection, you will likely find a suitable mattress at Ortho, no matter your lifestyle.

Ortho Mattress endeavors to provide good customer service. Most of its in-store staff is known for being knowledgeable and patient. They are available to educate consumers on their choices before they purchase. The company offers free delivery and free mattress removal on selected models. The delivery staff is committed to prompt service with deliveries of some mattresses on the same day. Free financing options are also available.

Ortho Mattress often runs sales during holiday periods and frequently has promotions and internet-only discounts on their website. If you arrive during a non-sale period, be prepared to haggle. Prices may come down with some negotiations and it’s not unknown for extras, like pillows or other goods, to be thrown in to seal the deal.

In addition to mattresses, Ortho Mattress also conveniently sells a selection of bedroom furnishings and accessories such as headboards and nightstands, making it an excellent place to do all of your bedroom shopping. They provide care and maintenance instructions for all their products, so that consumers can get the most prolonged and effective use out of the products they buy. Orders, including special requests, can be placed by telephone or by visiting any one of their locations.

Ortho Mattress Customer Reviews

With all of their good aspects, there have been reports of some negative experiences. Some have complained about impatient and disingenuous in-store sales staff, a problem endemic in any sales-oriented business. There are certainly some bad apples, but for the most part the staff is reported to be helpful and knowledgeable.

However, more serious complaints have arisen because of their return policy. Despite assurances that models over $499 have a comfort exchange (if after trying the mattress for 30 days “…you are not satisfied with the comfort of your mattress, full invoice credit will be allowed toward an exchange of equal or greater value”), returns are nevertheless subject to a 20% restocking fee and a minimum $69.99 re-delivery fee. Refunds are usually not given. There are also charges levied if an inspector comes to your house to determine if a defective mattress can be replaced under warranty (minimum $58). Therefore, it is wise to take your time and do your research before buying a mattress.
